The Old Methodist Church
If you've followed this blog or attended any of our lectures, you may recall that the St. George's/St. Mark's Church/Cemetery was neighbored by two successive Methodist churches in the 19th century. The first church was built in 1826 and was converted into a parsonage after the second church was built in the 1840s. The present Methodist Church, located down the road, was built in 1868. This postcard shows the Methodist Church/parsonage after its conversion into an ordinary residence. It was still standing as late as 1929, when it was mentioned in the memorial tablet erected at the cemetery, but is gone today.
