Above you can see a never-before-seen (by me, anyway) image of the St. George's/St. Mark's Cemetery. Since the memorial tablet is in place (right), this photograph must date to 1929 or later. Can you believe how many trees there are? Also note the gravel pathway, which I had never seen in photographs, but which we definitely encountered in the excavation.

I was drawn to this photo because it shows a man and his business, in a trade that hardly exists anymore - at least not in the way that it used to. Plus it has his name: Michael McNamara. Now I can research him.
Who is this, you may ask? This is the Trinket Man. Much like the Leather Man, he was a local legend who roamed the area. Unlike the Leather Man, who was very reserved, the Trinket Man loved to talk. And he sold trinkets - hence the name.
Lastly, a football team - with no names, unfortunately. I love their striped sweaters, and how serious they look.
Why only twelve players?
ReplyDeleteNot sure. I don't know much about sports.
